Motor Boat of the Year Award - European Powerboat of the Year

London and Düsseldorf
07 February 2011

Monfalcone, 7 February 2011. Two prizes in the World Yacht Trophies at the Cannes Boat Show in September, followed by the recognition as Boat of the Year 2010 awarded during the Genoa Boat Show. New boat shows and new prizes again in January: the Motor Boat of the Year Award 2011 in London and the European Powerboat of the Year 2011 in Düsseldorf. In the meantime, at the end of October, the ADI - Industrial Design Association - also rewarded the MCY 76 with the top Nautical Design Award, a prize that assigns by right the boat amongst the objects selected for the ADI Design Index and for the Compasso d’Oro, the world’s most important recognition in design. An unprecedented grand slam in the yachting sector. “These are recognitions that reward the strategy of the Beneteau Group’s new company”, Carla Demaria, President of Monte Carlo Yachts declared. “We build yachts that will last in time, setting new canons for luxury, in which responsibility, sustainability and personality prevail. An elegant and never extreme product, innovative and noble”. The jury members of the various prizes have universally recognised the quality of the yacht in terms of performance, comfort and design and unanimous appreciation has been expressed for the ability to offer unconventional solutions. The optimum price/quality ratio is another point in favour of the MCY 76, and is the result of a business approach inspired by lean principles: eliminate waste, pursue perfection. This last aspect was one that was well viewed by the Nautical Design Award jury members. Made up of members of the ADI and authoritative boat owners, the Jury expressed its appreciation for the research in the fields of technology and construction, aimed at creating a mature industrial-design yacht, with appreciable attention to cost reduction. A product that offers a more responsible approach to luxury, and whose value inn the eyes of the Jury was increased by the decision of the Beneteau Group - of which Monte Carlo Yachts is part - to focus on Italy to produce this top-range product.
